Skirt Sports, the Boulder-based women’s running apparel brand, has retained Bell Lap Advisors, the M&A advisory firm, to explore new ownership.
Founded in 2004 by professional triathlete, Nicole DeBoom, Skirt Sports is credited with coming out with the first-ever running skirt. Skirt Sports over the years has developed a full line for women and is known for its sizing from XS to 3X, more than 1,500 woman ambassador programs and aspirational marketing.
Skirt Sports said the move to seek a buyer has been accelerated due to the COVID-19 economic impact that is already occurring.
“With the uncertainties that surround the COVID-19 pandemic, our best chance for future success is to identify a synergistic partner that can utilize our strengths,” said DeBoom, “The ideal fit is a business that appreciates the powerful community we have created and wants to carry the brand forward.”
Russell Cree, managing partner at Bell Lap Advisors, states, “This business represents a unique opportunity to participate in the large and growing activewear market, with a heritage brand, with a cult-like following, and iconic signature product.”
