Skechers opened a 600,000-square-foot distribution center in Mumbai, India, to support the company’s expansion into the country. The building in the Lodha Industrial and Logistics Park in Kalyan is designed to streamline supply chain operations and can ship up to 60,000 SKUs daily.
Located near Taloja MIDC near major consumption hubs in and around Mumbai, the center “holds the potential to catalyze a five-fold growth in the existing distribution capabilities,” reported Skechers.
Opening the center marks Skechers’ first phase in its partnership with Lodha to develop a 1.1 million-square-foot space in Palava township. Skechers entered India in 2012 and acquired control of the joint venture in 2018.
Commenting on the partnership, Devender Singh Rawat, CEO of Lodha’s Green Digital Infrastructure Platform (GDIP), said, “Timely completion of the first phase of our partnership with the delivery of this fully equipped warehouse is a testament of our commitment to innovation and collaborative growth. We envision this facility as a game-changer in the B2B logistics space, in line with Lodha’s dedication to empowering businesses with reliable, sustainable and cutting-edge solutions. The goal is to not only meet expectations but to exceed them, providing a foundation for success that extends beyond the boundaries of conventional logistics while keeping our ESG ethos at its core.”
Rahul Vira, CEO and India country manager for Skechers South Asia Pvt. Ltd. added, “The Skechers National Distribution Center brings together Skechers and Lodha, two partners dedicated to excellence and innovation. LILP’s connectivity and Lodha’s legacy in state-of-the-art facilities perfectly complement Skechers’ ethos of quality and performance.”
