Skechers continues to support Maui’s recovery efforts following the 2023 wildfires by opening a new store on the island and contributing to grassroots organizations on the front lines of Maui’s recovery, including $50,000 to Help Maui Rise and $25,000 to Lahaina Intermediate School through its partnership with AdoptAClassroom.org.
Skechers said that partnering with local organizations “ensures that aid reaches those most in need through direct, equitable distribution, demonstrating a commitment to long-term community recovery.
Key figures attending the store opening—emphasizing the significance of this community-driven initiative—were Skechers president Michael Greenberg, Maui Mayor Richard Bissen and representatives from Help Maui Rise and Lahaina Intermediate School.
Located in Kahului, the new 20,821-square-foot store was designed in Skechers’ modern décor while honoring Hawaii’s horticulture with landscaping that includes native plantings. The store houses the brand’s footwear, apparel and accessory collections, including dedicated Skechers Performance and Skechers Apparel shop-in-shops.
Employees from the original Skechers Lahaina store, which was affected by the 2023 fires, now join as team members at the Kahului store. This new store represents an investment in a community Skechers “deeply believes in.” And said, “It’s about creating jobs, offering comfortable shoes at reasonable prices, and, most importantly, being part of Maui’s recovery and revitalization.”
