SKECHERS announced that United Legwear, Co. has been named the licensee for SKECHERS Kids-branded socks in the United States and Canada. SKECHERS Kids' sock agreement follows on the heels of the Fall 2003 launch of SKECHERS children's apparel with Kids Headquarters, and a recently announced agreement with Multigroup for SKECHERS-branded children's, toddler and infant apparel in Canada.

“Consumers' enthusiastic responses to our initial offering of SKECHERS Kids clothes have resulted in back-to-school double digit sell-throughs, paving the way for additional children's licensing opportunities,” said Michael Greenberg, president of SKECHERS. “A line of children's socks also complements our successful Kids footwear line, which is the top selling children's footwear brand in several key department stores.”

Under the agreement, United Legwear will design, distribute and market coordinated boys' and girls' SKECHERS-branded socks in infant, toddler and children's sizes. The line, which will include characters, animals and embellishments, will launch in department and specialty stores in July 2004.

“This is an ideal time to launch the SKECHERS socks for children. The SKECHERS Kids brand is well respected by accounts and desired by consumers,” said Isaac Ash, president of United Legwear, Co. “We believe boys and girls will be equally excited about our coordinating SKECHERS-branded socks, which will be a natural accompaniment to the children's SKECHERS apparel and footwear.”

“SKECHERS Kids socks are a perfect fit for United Legwear. The company has a strong reputation within the industry for designing and sourcing quality, brand-right socks for companies such as Paul Frank and Roxy,” said Faith Paige Wall, vice president of licensing for SKECHERS. “United Legwear's image, attitude and design skills are in line with SKECHERS' fashionable, youth-oriented lifestyle.”
