the Sierra Club celebrates a News and
Documentary Emmy awarded to Ansel Adams: A Documentary Film. Last night at
Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York City, the National Academy of Television
Arts & Sciences honored the first public television program from Sierra
Club Productions with an Emmy in the category of Outstanding Cultural &
Artistic Programming – Long Form.
Ansel Adams: A Documentary Film was nominated along with ABC News Special –
Peter Jennings Reporting: In Search of America: “The Stage”, Amargosa, And
Then One Night: The Making of Dead Man Walking, CBS News Sunday Morning:
Benjamin Franklin, and National Geographic True Originals: Reza: Shooting
Back.
“We are very proud to have been included in this outstanding group of

Productions. “And to win exceeded our greatest expectations.”
Ansel Adams: A Documentary Film was a co-production with Steeplechase
Films. The feature length documentary, written and directed by Ric Burns,
highlights the life and art of America's famed photographer and
environmentalist. Major funding for Ansel Adams: A Documentary Film was
provided by exclusive corporate sponsor Hewlett-Packard. The film first
aired on PBS on WGBH Boston's “American Experience” and is now available on
home video and on DVD.
