SnowSports Industries America informed SEW last week that Leisure Trends Group discovered an error in their programming that caused discrepancies in the most recent SIA Retail Audit numbers.

Total industry sales at retail did not grow 2.8% so far this season as reported. Sales for the SnowSports industry actually fell 0.9% to $1.70 billion compared to $1.71 billion last year.

Specialty retail sales did not increase for the January season-to-date period; rather, they dropped 2.2% to $1.30 billion compared to $1.33 billion for the same period last year. Chain stores sales growth rate was reported correctly as climbing 3.6% to $390 million.
