Snowsports Industries America (SIA) announced the inaugural SIA trade mission to China, September 16-19, 2018.

It is estimated that the total market size of the winter sports industry in China will reach $87 billion by 2020, and China’s central government has announced plans to create 300 million new winter sports enthusiasts out of the country’s billion-plus population before 2022. As the host of the 2022 Winter Olympics and a rapidly developing winter market, China offers significant opportunities for companies in the winter industry.

With these immense business opportunities, SIA, in partnership with the U.S. Commercial Service (USCS) of the U.S. Embassy in Beijing, has announced an educational trade mission to China to provide U.S. snow sports business with opportunities to gain important insights, contacts and learn about business opportunities in China. During the three days, the group will hear first-hand about developments in the Chinese winter market from U.S. officials, meet Chinese resort owners and retailers, visit local specialty retail, meet with the Beijing Organizing Committee for the 2022 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games  and attend the World Winter Sports Expo.

“Doing business in China is complicated, but the opportunity is immense,” said Nick Sargent, SIA’s president. “It’s our responsibility to provide our members with the intelligence to succeed in this market.”

The group is limited to the first 16 individuals representing U.S.-based businesses. The fee is $1,500 for SIA members and $3,000 for non-members.
