Sherpa Adventure Gear has hired Terri Reade as sales manager for North America. Reade has worked in the outdoor industry since 1993, and she brings broad experience in retail, merchandising and management to the job at Sherpa Adventure Gear.
Reade will oversee sales strategies and manage vendor relations with the company¹s expanding dealer network in the United States and Canada. Reade started her new job on Oct. 6.
“Terri brings an impressive bandwidth of experience, as well as a vital and very progressive aptitude on how to adapt to a rapidly changing retail environment,” said Tashi Sherpa, founder and CEO of Sherpa Adventure Gear. “In Terri, we also found someone who is dedicated to upholding our vision and who has the right mind set and skills to formulate our strategy to build and grow business the Sherpa way.”
Reade was already very familiar with Sherpa Adventure Gear from her time with Colorado retailer Jax Mercantile Company, where she held key positions beginning in 1993 and helped Jax grow to a six-store enterprise with over 450 employees and a ten-fold increase in revenue.
“When I was introduced to Sherpa Adventure Gear apparel at Jax, I immediately connected with how the company conducts its business with its philanthropy,” said Reade. “Im excited to join the team. With my personal connection to its mission, I plan to immerse myself in growing the awareness of the brand in current and emerging markets.”
Sherpa Adventure Gear has had a strong tradition of social responsibility since its founding in 2003 by Tashi Sherpa. At the outset, the company’s intent was to give back to the education of Sherpa people, and to manufacture in Nepal to provide valuable jobs.
Most recently, Reade worked for Seattle Sports as general manager. In addition to her retail experience, Reade has experience as an independent rep for Hi Altitude Sales and Consulting and as a factory representative for Columbia Sportswear.
Reade is an avid outdoors enthusiast who began her career in the industry as a seasonal ranger for the National Park Service. She enjoys backpacking, climbing, and running.
