Sher-Wood Hockey Inc. said it has received court approval and completed the purchase of the business assets of TPS Sports Group, a manufacturer and distributor of hockey sticks and protective equipment. TPS had been operating under the supervision of the Proposal Trustee since September 15, 2008. Sher-Wood Hockey has acquired the TPS inventory, receivables, and manufacturing equipment located in Wallaceburg and Strathroy, Ontario.

“This represents a very significant step in developing scale and brand strength for our global hockey business,” said Ralph Trott, president and CEO of Sher-Wood Hockey Inc. “The TPS brand has a strong presence in the National Hockey League and in hockey rinks around the world. Professional and recreational players choose TPS sticks and equipment for their quality and superior technology.” With the completion of the transaction, Sher-wood also announced that it expects to immediately integrate the TPS Wallaceburg based manufacturing and distribution functions into Sher-Wood's existing facilities in Sherbrooke, QC.

“We believe the synergies with TPS along with our current SWD, Sher-Wood and Inglasco brands, will create meaningful value for all our stakeholders,” Trott said. Sher-Wood Hockey Inc. was formed in June 2008 to purchase the hockey assets of the company formerly known as Sher-Wood Drolet. In September the company purchased the hockey novelty and licence assets of the company formerly known as Inglasco.

“Our focus in all of these transactions has been to assemble key hockey assets that positions us as an industry leader,” Trott concluded.
