Base Camp Communications adventure sports and travel PR firm announced that journalist and outdoorsman Sean
Leslie has joined the Base Camp team. For Base Camp, Leslie is an enthusiastic and experienced team member looking forward to sharing the load of an ever expanding client list, and a willing belay partner.

For Leslie, landing a dream job with the energetic and growing adventure
sports public relations firm in storied Jackson, Wyoming, seemed too
good to be true. But descending Togwotee pass and arriving in Jackson
Hole, under the shadow of Grand Teton, Leslie realized his passion for
the outdoors and outdoor sports, environmental conservation and media
communications, combined with a hefty dose of hard work and a lot of
luck, had given him a priceless opportunity to learn the PR game from
the distinguished team at Base Camp.

“Sean uses words, big words, such as distinguished and accomplished
without sounding like he’s hawking Viagra. Our clients are psyched,”
said Base Camp’s Mike Geraci. “Sean is execrable (did I use that
correctly?).”

As an honor student at the University of New Hampshire, Leslie balanced
classes in journalism and communications with rock-climbing sessions at
nearby Pawtuckaway State Park, and augmented the knowledge gained in
environmental ethics classes by leading backpacking trips into The White
Mountain National Forest.

Post graduation in 2003, Leslie spent four months fulfilling the duties
of a full-time reporter at The Gloucester Daily Times newspaper, in
Gloucester, Massachusetts, honing reporting and writing skills he
developed at UNH, and capitalized on the opportunity to mountain bike
through central Cape Ann’s miles of singletrack almost every day.

Leslie then spent several months traveling through Australia and New
Zealand, visiting world-famous landmarks, such as Uluru and Milford
Sound, exploring lesser known locations, including the acres of
untouched boulder problems at central New Zealand’s Castle Hill, and
learning the business of tourism and travel firsthand.

Upon returning to the U.S., Leslie graduated with honors from the
National Outdoor Leadership School’s Absoroka Wilderness Backpacking
course in Wyoming, an experience that gave him his first taste of the
awe-inspiring geography of the Cowboy State while cementing his outdoor
skills. Leslie then spent four months in Manhattan at the editorial
offices of the award-winning National Geographic Adventure Magazine,
taking his experience in journalism and outdoor communications to an
international level while working with industry leaders, such as
National Magazine Award winner John Rasmus.

Thrilled with the opportunity to develop his media relations skills at
Base Camp Communications, Leslie looks forward to using all he has
learned from his classroom, professional and outdoor experiences to
become a successful and productive member of the Base Camp team, and
equally thrilled to now call outdoor Mecca Jackson Hole his home, he
looks forward to lots of product testing, too.
