It was announced this morning that the Nike veteran and former VP of Sales at Brooks Sports will take the position to head up footwear sales for the Fila US division of the new Sports Brands International. He will report to new SBI Americas CEO, Tom ORiordan.
Sports Brand International, led by former Fila USA President & CEO Jon Epstein, acquired the Fila brand and all subsidiaries in a deal that closed last week.
Carey left Brooks a little over a week ago after getting the team through the NSGA Management Conference, where he moderated the footwear panel, and the Brooks sales meeting.
Wide-spread industry speculation had him going to a Boston-
based brand to be closer to family and his roots, but he ultimately made the decision late last night to get on board with Epstein’s team.
” We are fortunate to have Scott on the team”, said ORiordan. “He is a footwear sales veteran with a wealth of industry contacts and product knowledge. Scott has unparalleled retail relationships. He will be a great asset to Fila.”
