Over recent years, Schoeller’s concern over space restrictions has been consistently growing. In response to this need, expansion began at its weaving mill, as well as the entire dye works and finishing department at the Swiss headquarters. In addition, a new logistic center is also under construction with the aim of increasing supply readiness and customer service. These measures will lead to an 80% reduction of emissions as well as a 20% reduction in the energy input.

In the context of the expansion work, and in addition to other measures, a new exhaust air purification plant is being installed. The plant, one of the most modern of its kind world-wide, will be linked up to the existing machinery and to a further new addition, a large-scale coating plant.

The system is equipped with both an electro filter and a wet filter and makes it possible to purify the exhaust air while at the same time recovering the heat. It represents the latest state-of-the-art technology in the area of air pollution control in textile production and perfectly complements the bluesign®-oriented textile production at Schoeller. bluesign® is the world’s most stringent standard for safe and sustainable textile production.

Correspondingly, when it comes to new additions and expansions, ecological factors with a positive economic effect always play a vital role. Since 1991, the Schoeller has invested around 70 million Swiss francs ($60 mm) in the Sevelen production site. The current construction work is due to be completed around September 05.
