This September, inspired by National Childhood Obesity Awareness Month, Saucony and run specialty retailer Fleet Feet Sports are issuing the Saucony Run4Good Challenge to runners nationally to generate awareness and grants for community youth running programs.

Simply by downloading Saucony Run4Good, the running industry¹s first-ever app dedicated to battling childhood obesity, signing up with a local Fleet Feet store team on the app and then running with their mobile device, runners can join the challenge and the cause. With every stride, runners will be accumulating miles for their selected Fleet Feet store app team, with the top four mileage-generating teams each being awarded a $2,500 Saucony Run For Good grant to go to a local kids¹ running program selected by the Fleet Feet store. These Fleet Feet grant winners will be selected based on mileage accumulated on the Saucony Run4Good app from September 1st through September 30th. Winners will be announced October 7th.

“We are extremely proud to partner with Fleet Feet Sports to raise awareness about the obesity epidemic and offer people a way to take action toward a solution in their local communities,” said Chris Lindner,
chief marketing officer and senior vice president of commerce for Saucony. “This is an extraordinary opportunity to do good by doing what we love-running. As brands focused on runners, innovation and social responsibility, both Saucony and Fleet Feet believe the Saucony Run4Good Challenge is an amazing way to engage with the community in a manner that¹s relevant, innovative and meaningful while inspiring a strong unity of purpose to make a difference for our children.”

“Saucony is a great partner with a team that is dedicated to informing the running community about childhood obesity and making a difference in children's lives,” said Luke Rowe, senior vice president of business development for Fleet Feet, Inc. “We are excited to support this initiative with Saucony and combine our efforts to raise money to give back to youth running groups in our local communities.”

The Saucony Run4Good iPhone app can be downloaded for free from the Apple App Store. The Android version of the Saucony Run4Good app can also be downloaded for free from the Google Play Store. Links to both versions of the Saucony Run4Good app can be found at saucony.com/run4good.

With the GPS-enabled Saucony Run4Good app, Saucony has opened the door for runners everywhere to join the fight against childhood obesity without having to enter a charity race or open their wallets. Simply by running, the Saucony Run4Good app allows people to support the cause and raise awareness about the childhood obesity epidemic. When a monthly predetermined mileage goal is reached by the app community, Saucony will double its donation to selected youth running programs featured monthly, inspiring individual runners to both unite over their passion for running and combat the childhood obesity epidemic. “We started the Saucony Run For Good Foundation seven years ago to help in the national effort to eradicate this epidemic,” continued Lindner. “Since that time, we¹ve awarded over $1 million dollars in grants to hundreds of organizations nationwide, all dedicated to getting more kids active. The Saucony Run4Good app is an impactful way for more people to connect as a community and take action.”
