Sara Lee Corporation's board of directors elected current President and CEO, Brenda C. Barnes, to the position of chairman of the board. Barnes' new title is chairman and CEO. In a planned succession, she succeeds C. Steven McMillan, who has served as chairman since 2001 and led Sara Lee as chief executive officer from 2000 until February, 2005, when his retirement was announced.
