Mesa Rim Climbing and Fitness Center, Inc., which features 52-foot pinnacles and 30,000 square feet of climbing surface, said it has set Saturday, May 22 as the grand opening date for its new San Diego indoor climbing facility.


The center combines studio quality yoga facilities with a comprehensive fitness center aimed at outdoors enthusiasts in training. Mesa Rim owners pledged an incomparable industry event, combining the opening of the regions largest indoor climbing center with a retailer trade fair dedicated to outdoor adventurers.


Mesa Rim doors will offer a day of free climbing from 8am-10pm. Climbers will have the chance to enjoy the nations newest and most choice plastic pulling. The 5.13 Invitational, scheduled for opening day, will draw local climbers to compete on one of the most difficult indoor rated routes. 

 

The grand opening will also include a free specialty retail expo complete with professional demonstrations and climbing community talks from 8am-4pm. The retail expo will bring together the industries finest vendors and local San Diego retailers.


This expo is all about our climbers,” said Michael Rumack, Mesa Rim Climbing and Fitness Center Owner and GM. “We are celebrating two plus years of hard work. Bob Kain, the Mesa Rim staff, and I want to make this a spectacular event providing an opportunity for the whole community to come together and celebrate.”

 

Mesa Rim has been developing youth programs with community groups such as the local YMCAs, and charity foundations like Outdoor Outreach. The company is striving to educate and encourage the climbing community of tomorrow by sharing the benefits of climbing and fitness, teaching a balance of physical, mental, and spiritual health.
