Ted Ligety has signed a two-year sponsorship agreement to use Rossignol skis, boots, bindings and poles. Ligety was the only American man to win a medal in alpine skiing at the recent Olympic Games and is unanimously considered one of the biggest superstars on the World Cup alpine circuit. The 21 year old Park City resident won his first Olympic Gold medal in the combined, showing his versatility by following up on his solid downhill run with a spectacular slalom that brought him to the top of the podium.

Bernard Mariette, President of Quiksilver, Inc. (NYSE: ZQK – News), said “Ted Ligety's signing is a fantastic accomplishment for Rossignol. To have the best young skier in the world is a tribute to the commitment of our new management group. The racing team led by former world champion, Michel Vion, is passionate about Rossignol's mission to sponsor athletes not only with the best competitive qualities but also who can be true ambassadors of our brand on the slopes and off the slopes– athletes that are connected to the lifestyle.”

Michel Vion commented, “Aside from Ted's exceptional technical qualities, his unique style and incredible feel for the snow make him a real showman. Victories and incredible moments. That's Ted Ligety. I'm sure that his natural appeal to the public will help our sport evolve and attract a whole new generation of kids and spectators to our incredible sport. We will make a point to provide him, as we do for all of our sponsored athletes, with the best, state-of-the-art technology that represents Rossignol's racing legacy.”

Ted Ligety added, “I'm super psyched to be coming over to Rossignol. The feeling I get from the product gives me the confidence to be threatening the top step of the podium in every race. For me to win, I need a combination of skis, boots and bindings that are going to be aggressive, and have the ability to pull a ridiculously tight radius yet at the same time be forgiving enough to pull of crazy recoveries to stay on course, and Rossi has that. I'm also very excited about Rossignol's new association with Quiksilver and the development of the whole Quiksilver Rossignol headquarters in Park City, Utah, my home town. I think the influence of Quiksilver will be perfect for Rossignol. Not only will they respect and honor Rossignol's status as the premier ski brand, but they will also help make a connection with the outdoor lifestyle that Quiksilver has made famous”.
