Lipsey’s Founder, Richard Lipsey, was inducted into the National Shooting Sports Foundation Hall of Fame last week during the shooting sports industry’s annual SHOT Show in Las Vegas, NV.
A gathering at the Venetian Convention and Expo Center honored this year’s three NSSF Hall of Fame inductees—Richard Lipsey, Founder of Lipsey’s, the prominent firearms distributor; Bob Behn, former president and CEO of Marlin firearms and an advisor and board member of Remington Arms; and William Ruger, Sr., industry pioneer, founder and chairman, Sturm, Ruger & Company.
Lipsey’s work as a sporting goods retailer and wholesaler spans over six decades. Beyond business, Lipsey has been a champion of the second amendment and supporting the efforts of the NSSF. He is also an avid hunter and has spent a lifetime nurturing coastal and wetland conservation while promoting ethics within the sport. He has a passion for education and has served in several state leadership roles, including, most recently, chair of Louisiana’s Board of Regents. Lipsey concentrates on philanthropic efforts and advocates for the advancement of Louisiana, associated conservation efforts and the firearms community.
Lipsey addressed the audience: “To be honored with this award is most gratifying and deeply appreciated. My dedication to this industry has been unwavering for over 60 years.”
Lipsey was also awarded the National Shooting Sports Foundation Ken Sedlecky Lifetime Achievement Award in January 2015.
Celebrating 70 years, Lipsey’s was founded as a wholesale hunting and fishing distributor in 1953 in Baton Rouge, LA. Today, it is one of the country’s largest independently owned firearms distributors.
