Nike has signed Jason Day, the world’s top-ranked golfer, to an endorsement deal, according to ESPN.
The ESPN report noted that the signing was made possible with Nike’s move in August to exit the golf equipment business. Day had a contract with TaylorMade-Adidas; the report said he has re-signed with TaylorMade for equipment.
The report further noted that with Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy underperforming, Nike had been promoting Brooks Koepka, who has only one PGA Tour win, as its lead athlete in the sport.
