Bass Pro Shops has laid off 30 people at its Springfield corporate headquarters, according to Missouri’s News-Leader. The employees were laid off Friday, Bass Pro communications manager Larry Whiteley said.
Whiteley said the decision was due to the economy, though the company doesnt anticipate further layoffs. Employees were offered severance packages and their vacation pay, Whiteley said. He said employees would also keep their health insurance for an undisclosed period of time. Bass Pro Shop’s corporate offices have 2,500 employees.
