REI plans to close its store in Yonkers, NY on February 12, 2021, according to a report from Rockland/Westchester Journal News.

“We regularly assess our store locations and customer needs and have made the decision to close our Yonkers store,” an REI spokesperson told the newspaper. “The closure is not related to the COVID-19 pandemic and in no way reflects the health of the Co-Op at large — in fact, REI has opened seven new stores this year in addition to piloting two used gear pop-up stores”

The store is located at 49 Fitzgerald Street, off Ridge Hill Road at the Ridge Hill Mall.

REI’s departure will leave three locations remaining in New York, including its SoHo Flagship as well as locations in Carle Place in Long Island and Rochester. The closest REI locations to the lower Hudson Valley are in Paramus, NJ and West Hartford, CT.
