REI Co-op announced that it hired Sylvia Wilks as senior vice president, chief supply chain officer, and Minnie Alexander as vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary, effective May 23 and May 31, respectively.
- Wilks will be responsible for the strategic leadership of REI’s end-to-end global value chain, continuing to develop its supply chain to support growth. With more than 25 years of experience in retail, food and beverage, and consumer product industries, Wilks joins the company from TireHub. Her supply chain and direct procurement leadership also include prior work at Kimberly-Clark and Starbucks Corporation.
- Minnie Alexander will oversee the management, development and operations of REI’s legal division, leading and implementing strategies with legal consideration into the company framework, plans and execution. Alexander will also provide perspective and compliance with the co-op’s business model. She will also serve as an advisor to its Board of Directors. Alexander joins REI from The Walt Disney Company, where she was assistant general counsel. Prior work experience includes Campbell Soup Company and Dorsey & Whitney. She succeeds Wilma Wallace, promoted to senior vice president, chief diversity & social impact officer, and chief legal officer.
“Sylvia and Minnie join our team from customer-centric organizations that are deeply focused on creating best-in-class experiences. Their talent will help REI deliver on our promise to inspire and enable a life outside for everyone by serving our members, employees and broader outdoor community,” said Eric Artz, REI Co-op president and CEO. “As we grow to a 50-million-member community by 2030, their leadership of our supply chain and legal functions will be instrumental.”
