REI Co-op announced that Patricia Lopez, a former executive in the beauty industry, and Doug Mack, former CEO of Fanatics, were elected to the company’s board of directors in May.

Lopez is an executive and former CEO with a broad range of global marketing and general management experience, having worked at consumer companies, including Procter & Gamble, Avon and Estée Lauder. Most recently, Lopez was the CEO and board member of High Ridge Brands Co. from July 2017 to March 2020. Lopez was also a senior vice president at Estée Lauder Companies, Inc. from January 2015 to July 2016, a senior vice president at Avon Products, Inc. from December 2012 to November 2014, and previously held various positions at The Procter & Gamble Co. for 25 years, most recently as vice president and general manager overseeing its Eastern Europe business.

REI said Lopez “brings expertise in centering the voice of the consumer, balancing strategic planning with operational execution, and revitalizing brands. Patricia believes everyone should have equitable access to time outside and is eager to work with the co-op community to inspire a lifetime of outdoor adventure and stewardship for all.”

Mack joins REI’s board with 34 years of industry experience, the last 25 of which come from a broad retail and e-commerce business background, including as former CEO of Fanatics, One Kings Lane and Scene7.

REI said, “Doug has a proven track record in building not just strong businesses, but strong business cultures, with a focus on diversity and inclusion. As a board member, he will strive to support the success of the REI management team as they serve employees, members, customers and the broader co-op mission. Doug firmly believes REI provides a unifying force for good, bringing together people committed to life outside in a world that has become increasingly divided.”

“Doug and Patricia bring an amazing range of expertise, experience and perspective to the co-op,” Eric Artz, chief executive officer of REI Co-op said. “They also bring a deep passion for our mission of inspiring a life lived outside and believe strongly in our climate and REDI impact agendas. As existing members of our co-op and seasoned leaders, I look forward to working with them to help REI grow in the future.”
