The adidas Group plans to move certain service functions located at Reebok headquarters in Canton, Mass., to the new adidas Group facilities under construction in Spartanburg, S.C. The relocation will affect approximately 100 Canton-based Reebok employees.

As previously announced, the new facilities will also house the U.S. distribution centers for footwear and apparel for both the Reebok and adidas brands. The Reebok brand service functions, which will be relocated in Spring 2008, include the customer service, credit and collections, accounts receivable and customer compliance departments.
Most of these functions for the adidas brand are already located in Spartanburg.

Reebok’s headquarters, which employs 1,200 workers, will remain in Canton, and will continue to house the brand’s global product development, marketing, North America sales, merchandising, advanced concepts and legal administrative departments.

Adidas Group didn’t disclose expected cost-savings related to the move. The layoffs mark the second round since Adidas purchased the company for $3.8 billion last year. In April, Reebok disclosed that 230 jobs would be eliminated at footwear distribution centers in Stoughton and Canton scheduled to close by Fall 2009.
