Recco, the avalanche rescue system, hired Marcus Löwgren as global sales manager as part of an ongoing effort to move the system toward an all-year outdoor application. Löwgren joined the company’s Lidingö, Sweden headquarters August 22.

Löwgren most recently came from IBM where he served as client representative and key account manager. Before that, he co-founded a talent matchmaking service in the snow sports industry and was the sports director of Sweden’s largest ski club, Saltsjöbadens Slalomklubb.

“Hiring Marcus is a strategic move to grow our business and strengthen our relationships with our brand partners across the world. We are delighted to welcome Marcus to Recco and look forward to benefiting from his expertise and drive,” said Magnus Granhed, founder of Recco.

The new global sales manager comes from a snow sports background with a competitive history in ski racing and as a former student-athlete of Sweden’s Elite Alpine Ski Academy.

“Marcus understands snow sports and has extensive experience in sales and account management in various industries, and will add a new approach to our offering with his background,” said Recco EVP Johan Sauer. “He possesses the experience and personal qualities we have been looking for to strengthen our team and offering to our customers, especially as we start to move towards Recco as an all-year search and rescue application.”
