Yakima Products, Inc. has decided that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in certain aftermarket FlipSide 4 bike hitch carriers  (NHTSA campaign # 11E-025).

 

There is a possibility of the unit malfunctioning. In such a case, the mast could fold unexpectedly. This could cause injury or property damage. There have been no injuries related to this malfunction.

 

Yakima is in the process of contacting all affected dealers who have been asked to stop sales of the FlipSide immediately and to remove product from the sales floors and all displays.

Yakima and its retailers will be reaching out directly to those consumers that have purchased the affected product. Consumers that own a FlipSide are being asked to cease use of the racks and visit www.yakima.com/flipsiderecall. Consumers may also call Yakima customer service at (888) 825-4621
