About 10,000 Schwinn Ellipitcal Trainers made by Nautilus are being recalled. Nautilus said it had been informed of nine reports of the foot plate coming
off the machine or breaking when being used. One person had the machine
hit their knee.

The recall involves model number 460 of the Schwinn Elliptical
Trainers and the items were sold between July 2008 and May 2011 for about $1,000.
The Schwinn 460 model has gray anodized aluminum that has black
rubberized padding on the handlebars. There is a heart rate sensor on
both sides along with a touch-screen console, controllable fan, and an
orange-colored water bottle holder. The Schwinn logo can be found on the
bottom right side of the base.

They were sold online at Nautilus.com, Amazon.com and at retail stores
including Dick's Sporting Goods and AAFES. The elliptical also could have
been sold at other retailers that specialized in fitness equipment or
sporting goods.

Consumers that have the recalled elliptical should stop using the equipment until it has been properly repaired. Nautilus is offering owners a free repair kit that includes an extended warranty. Consumers can contact Nautilus toll-free at 800-259-9019 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. PT, Monday through Friday or online at their website www.schwinn.com.
