About 49,300 Ovation Protégé equestrian helmets from English Riding Supply were recalled due to an impact injury hazard.
The recalled helmets fail to meet the impact requirements of the ASTM F1163-15 standard, posing a hazard to riders during fall, according to the CSPC. To date, no head injuries have been reported.
The helmets were sold at tack shops and English equestrian specialty stores nationwide and online at amazon.com and statelinetack.com from January 2021 through December 2022 for between $58 and $66.
Riders are encouraged to stop using the recalled helmets, return them to the retailer where they were purchased or to an Ovation authorized dealer for a free replacement Ovation Deluxe Schooler helmet, or contact English Riding Supply for a $60 refund.
