The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with Outdoor Research, Inc., has announced a voluntary recall of “Primovolta” and “Primavolta” Warming Gloves. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed. The firm has received five reports of the gloves overheating, including one consumer who suffered burns to her hand.

Injury can occur if the glove’s electric heating pad short circuits and overheats. About 900 pairs pairs of the heated gloves were produced. Gloves included in the recall are style number 77000 (men’s) in sizes S, M, L, XL, and style number 77010 (women’s) in sizes S, M, L. The product name is printed on the inside cuff of the left glove.

The gloves were sold at major outdoor specialty retailers from September 2008 through January 2009 for about $260.
