Deuter has voluntarily recalled approximately 4,900 Kid Comfort Child Carrier Backpacks. The company has identified an issue with the carrier’s hinge system, which could fail on first use. 

Deuter received a limited number of customer reports regarding hinge failures and, following an internal investigation, determined that some of its Kid Comfort Child Carrier Backpacks could contain defective components.

Deuter has received no reports of injury.

This recall applies to the Deuter Kid Comfort Child Carrier Backpack sold between March 2023 and February 2025 at authorized retailers and online. The products affected by this recall are limited to the models and production/date codes that end with the following four digits:

Consumers who purchased an affected product are advised to discontinue use immediately. Deuter is offering a free replacement to all impacted customers.
