Coleman announced a voluntary recall (No. 25-253) in cooperation with the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) for roughly 228,760 Converta Camping Cots and Converta Camping Suspension Stretchers, manufactured by Coleman in China.
The backrest fold mechanism could pinch consumers’ fingers, posing hazards of laceration and amputation.
According to a statement from the CPSC, Coleman has received seven reports of the seatback adjustment mechanism pinching consumers’ fingers, including two reports of fractured fingers.
Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled equipment and contact The Coleman Company for a free repair kit, including installation instructions.
The recall involves the Coleman Converta Camping Cots with Model Nos. 2000003077 and 2000020282, and Coleman Converta Camping Suspension Stretchers with Model No. 2000020290. A hang tag affixed to the frames shows the model numbers.
The camping cots and suspension stretchers feature tan or white fabric with the Coleman logo printed on them, along with black steel frames that have adjustable seatbacks and leg positions.
The items were sold at Walmart and other stores nationwide, as well as online on Amazon, from January 2011 through March 2025, for between $60 and $80.
The importer of the equipment is Newell Brands, Inc., the parent company of The Coleman Company, Inc.
