Cannondale is recalling about 3,100 of its popular Bad Boy and Bad Girl commuter bikes in the U.S. after learning their fork axle can crack.
The recall, which also covers about 400 of the bikes sold in Canada, covers Bad Boy and Bad Girl bikes with date codes beginning with P.Q and RB through RL. The date code is located on the bottom of the bicycle fork. All the bikes come with matte black frames.
Cycling Sports Group, which owns Cannondale, has received 30 reports of the bicycle’s fork axle cracking; including an injury report of a fall that resulted in a concussion and bruising. The company is instructing consumers to immediately stop using the bikes and take them to their nearest authorized Cannondale dealer for a free repair.
The bikes were sold nationwide from June 2010 through December 2014 for between $1,000 and $1,800.
Cycling Sports Group is a unit of Dorel Sports, which is in turn owned by Dorel Industries Inc. (TSX:DII-A).
