Specialized Bicycle Components Inc. of Morgan Hill, CA is recalling about 1,000 high-end road bikes because their rear wheel can loosen from the dropout and cause fractures in the rear triangle.

The recall involves 2016 Specialized S-Works Venge Vias and Venge Pro Vias road bicycles. They were sold in black, white, red and black, white and black and green and blue color combinations. An S-works or Specialized decal can be found on the downtube.

The firm has received seven reports of fractures in the bicycle’s rear triangle, including one report of a rider suffering a minor injury.

Specialized is instructing consumers to immediately stop using the recalled bicycles and contact an authorized Specialized retailer for free installation of a new rear derailleur hanger and a safety inspection.

The bikes were sold at authorized Specialized retailers from July 2015 through September 2016 for between $6,200 and $12,900.
