Realm Holdings, LLC, owner of The Realm trademarks, has signed an exclusive licensing contract with Itochu Corporation of Japan for distribution of Realm apparel and accessories in Japan.
The Realm, an authentic Southern California surf brand, has been developed into an international surf brand with licensees in Australia, Europe, Japan and the United States. According to Jay Geier, Managing Member of Realm Holdings, LLC, “the brand will continue on its existing path of providing exceptional products for the surf lifestyle. Originally created by surfers for surfers, the Realm family of licensees and distributors offer the highest level of quality surf products, including surfboards, rash guards, wet suits, apparel and accessories.”
The Realm represents a true core brand that has been embraced by the best of the best in the surfing world. Jay Geier added, “Having a new licensee in Japan of Itochus caliber will greatly impact brand awareness and distribution throughout Asia.”
Itochu is a recognized leader in the Japanese branded apparel market. The company is structured to develop emerging brands into strong market contenders. Itochu will help to make the entire Realm team stronger worldwide. According to Masa Shimakoshi, “Itochu is pleased to take on The Realm and believes the brand can be built to be a true factor in the global surf lifestyle business.”
The company believes that through an expanded unified effort of The Realms licensees, growth will be significant in the coming years. Geier will now open other markets to new licensees. In 2006 the brand will focus on strengthening its marketing and product offerings and on creating a unified, worldwide approach.
