Princeton Tec will help light the way for the Climbing For Kids Teams on their Mt. Rainier and Mt. Shasta climbs in summer 2006. The Climbing For Kids events will benefit the Bay Area Wilderness Training (BAWT). The initiative is to help get at-risk urban youth out of the city and into the woods. Adult Climbers pledge to raise sponsorships from friends and family, which will support BAWT with their year round work to get youth out on life changing wilderness trips.

Princeton Tec will provide headlamps for all the climbers on both climbs.

“We know that if we can’t get the youth of this country interested in outdoor pursuits our business will quickly diminish and as we look for ways to get involved and inspire kids it’s only natural that we turn to partners like BAWT, which have done so much to turn around the lives of so many young people,” said Dave Cozzone, National Sales Manager for Princeton Tec.

“Being involved in programs like this is a way for us to give back and help them help others,” said,” said Cozzone.

The Princeton Tec lights will be a part of an entire package of gear that each climber will receive- a packages worth $1,300- all donated by corporate sponsors like Princeton Tec.

“We believe that urban youth, once exposed to wilderness, have a broadened sense of themselves, each other, and the world around them”, said Kyle Macdonald, Founder and CEO of BAWT. “We hope other organizations will take this vision to the rest of the country and the larger world”, said Macdonald.
