Prince recently found itself in good company – just behind mega sports brands Adidas and Nike – rounding out the top three year-to-date dollar share for a tennis shoe brand. This is just one of the findings from the third quarter Specialty Store Retail Audit report for string and shoe sales from TIA/Sports Marketing Surveys.

Three models of Prince shoes rank in the top ten in year-to-date dollar share, including the T10, Scream Low and Fast Court. The T10 is the No. 4 shoe in year-to-date dollars, a mere 10th of a share point behind the Adidas Barricade II.

In addition, Prince strings continue to outrank the competition, claiming the No. 1 spot for year-to-date string sales. Compared to the 3rd quarter last year, Prince gained nearly 2 share points to grow to 29.1% of the string market.

The report shows Prince Syn Gut Dura and Lightning continue to grow share. Prince Syn Gut Dura is #1 in the market with 16%. Lightning has moved to the No. 4 best-seller with a 3.3% share.

“This report confirms that we’re creating shoes and strings that revolutionize the sport and help propel us in the industry,” said Doug Fonte, president, Prince USA. “Our engineers and designers are constantly working to improve the game of tennis for players of all levels, bringing them quality products that elevate their game.”
