Prince Sports has has opened a state-of-the-art research and development facility in Trevignano, Italy. Created to form a centralized research and development hub, the new facility will serve as a fully integrated part of the business process and will focus on the development of racquets, strings and footwear to provide real benefits for players worldwide.

Additionally, Prince created the new operational system to reconnect research and development to key leadership in order to better equip the company to make the most technically-advanced and innovative products in the industry, according to Alistair Thorburn, President of Prince.

“Prince is constantly in search of advanced materials and creative concepts in order to provide players with equipment that makes a genuine difference,” said Thorburn. “We’re going to look inside and outside for innovations and inventions. With a focus on product development, we will work on simplified product ranges that yield proven and tested equipment to deliver a clear difference on the court.”

The new R & D operation, headed up by Director of R&D, Roberto Gazzara, follows the recent launch of Prince’s European headquarters in London. With Prince’s London location working to better serve its European retailers, distributors and consumers, the new Italian research and development arm will provide the creative and engineering foundation for the rest of the world.
