Los Angeles, CA, April 16, 2020 — Thousand, creators of classically-designed and innovative bicycle helmets, announced today the launch of its Climate Collection. The charitable assortment will feature Thousand’s evergreen collection of Heritage helmets in new, distinct colors, inspired by the elements of our planet. 1% for the Planet, an international organization that connects individuals and businesses with nonprofit organizations around the world to increase environmental giving, will receive $10 of every helmet purchased from the Climate Collection.
As a Public Benefit Corporation, Thousand’s values incorporates sustainability and social impact. The Los Angeles-based brand became members of 1% for the Planet in its first operational year, committing revenue to environmental restoration and educational projects every year since.
“I believe every brand has a responsibility to protect the planet”, said CEO and founder Gloria Hwang. “We view climate action as a critical investment of time, energy, and dollars in the collective health of our global community. That is why we are so excited to launch a collection that contributes resources to our non-profit partner, and encourages responsible consumerism and environmental advocacy.”
The limited collection will debut two new colors to spread awareness around key climate issues. Terra Cotta, a deep orange-red, will represent earthen clay and diverse terrain, while Coastal Blue will depict our planet’s most abundant resource– water. The third color will be the in-line Arctic Grey, styled with minimal, off-white tones reminiscent of the polar environments most affected by climate change.
Thousand’s Climate Collection will launch on April 19, just before Earth Day, and available through May 17. Each Heritage helmet in the Climate Collection can be found at explorethousand.com as well as through select retail partners.
