Montane is a leading outdoor brand producing lightweight, functional clothing and equipment for mountain climbing, mountain walking and mountain running

The brand occupies a really strong position in the high-performance segment of the outdoor market, with well-designed, good-looking, technical products and a very loyal and active consumer base

Montane reinforces its brand position through multiple consumer marketing initiatives, including sponsorship of several mountain endurance events. These include the 268-mile Spine Race, famously won this year by Jasmin Paris, who smashed the course record by 12 hours whilst also expressing milk for her baby

The brand has been built up over more than 25 years, since its foundation in 1993, and has been led by Jake Doxat for the last 20 years

Montane is well-represented across all sectors of the UK specialist retail trade, plus a strong and fast-growing direct to consumer web business – montane.co.uk. The brand also distributes product in over 30 countries, representing around 30% of turnover

Montane is financially strong with forecast turnover in 2019 of over £14m and EBITDA of £1.7m. The 20-year trend of 15-percent year-on-year growth is set to continue in 2019 and beyond and management are confident that there are significant opportunities for further growth in the UK and internationally

Montane has appointed KPMG, who have completed several transactions in the outdoor sector in recent years, to help evaluate all strategic options – including further investing in sales and marketing, accelerated NPD, consideration of new ownership and the possible introduction of private equity.
