Mountain Equipment Company (MEC), the Canadian outdoor retailer, launched its 2023 Classics Collection, including the Rad Pants with added stretch, head-to-toe looks, recycled down insulation, and limited-edition colors and patterns.
This third capsule of the MEC Classics Collection draws inspiration from its Summer 1990 catalog and pays homage to the brand’s heritage with a retro natural theme. While last year’s collection showcased bold and vibrant colorways, this year’s offering is a more natural and elevated look.
“This is a celebration of our homegrown designs as well as the enduring passion of our superfans. We’re so excited to see it come to life,” said Sophie Laliberte, director of product creation for MEC Label. “The collection not only pays tribute to our roots but also reflects our commitment to creating modern, functional and stylish gear.”
The MEC 2023 Classics Collection consists of unisex products, with some men’s and women’s specific items and a youth line. MEC Classic Rad Pants were upgraded in response to customer feedback with stretch fabric for improved comfort and mobility. MEC introduces the Classic Rad Anorak, featuring color combinations for mix-and-match or bold all-one color looks. The Camp Poncho has a Coast Rapids print inspired by an abstract image of the Skookumchuck Rapids on the Sunshine Coast, BC, featured on the cover of the 1990 MEC catalog. MEC’s Classic Bush Pilot Down Sweater features Renu Performance Recycled Down insulation, which reclaims down from duvets, sleeping bags and jackets to give it new life.
