Since its debut in 2010, Toray’s Airtastic fabric has become a standout for use in high-end, lightweight jackets, like the Arc’teryx Atom line and Patagonia’s Nano-Air series.

Airtastic is now offered in weights from 20d down to 5d, all of which can be used with different coatings to deliver light, breathable, downproof and stretchable performance, used in everything from insulated pieces to windshirts.

PATH Projects has used a variety of Toray fabrics since going live in summer 2017. The company is run by a team of dedicated runners who design and build running shorts, tops, base layers and headwear to out-perform anything on the market.

PATH shorts are loaded with small details that make all the difference to a serious runner, like a no-bounce center back pocket, soft touch stitching and body mapped patterns.

Toray’s versatile PrimeFlex had become a staple of the PATH shorts line, due its mechanical stretch, light weight and breathability, but when the PATH design team took a closer look at Airtastic, they saw the next evolution in their short line.

“The first thing that attracted us was the light weight,” says PATH Founder Scott Bailey, “but the compact mini ripstop weave meant that it was going to be durable enough for our customer, which is mandatory. Another important element of Airtastic is the spiral spinning technology, which gives it flex without having to add an elastic like Spandex. It moves with the runner and feels light against your skin.”

“We’re going to use Airtastic in two new short models, the Sykes AT and the Wildcat AT, which launch on May 30 and June 12, respectively. We have the perfect chafe-free liners to pair with these new shorts for hot-weather summer runs.”
