PORTLAND, Ore. – (May 28, 2019)KEEN, Inc. (KEEN), a values-led, independently owned outdoor and lifestyle footwear brand, announces that its Palo Alto, Calif.-based KEEN Garage has received the 2019 Tall Tree Award in the business category.

“Receiving this prestigious award affirms KEEN’s commitment to being good business stewards, giving back to the communities in which we work and play, and fostering a culture of leadership and collaboration across industries,” says Jason Bimberg, senior manager at KEEN Retail.

The KEEN Garage earned the recognition for its work with the nonprofit organization Downtown Streets Team, which provides people experiencing homelessness and living on a low income with the resources they need to rebuild their lives. On a yearly basis, KEEN donates roughly 200 pairs of new and gently used shoes to Downtown Streets Team and has donated more than 9,000 pairs of socks to the organization to date.

Held in conjunction with Palo Alto’s 125th-birthday celebration, the 40th Annual Tall Tree Awards ceremony took place on May 16. Co-sponsored by the Palo Alto Chamber of Commerce and the Palo Alto Weekly, Tall Tree Awards are given to individuals and organizations that have shown exceptional civic contributions and service to the community. Nominations for the award are submitted by the general public once a year and awarded in four categories. The complete 2019 Tall Tree Award recipients include: Dr. Enoch Choi (professional), Paula Collins (citizen volunteer), The KEEN Garage (business), and La Comida de California (nonprofit).
