Enduro Bearings announced it is “shining a light” on bike mechanics with its Mechanics Ambassador program, offering technical, logistical and support to select professional mechanics, and those aspiring to be bike mechanics, working in the U.S.
Enduro Bearings, a maker of bearings and bearing-related components, aims to raise awareness of bearing technology and the importance of maintenance to a bike’s function through the program, which will continue indefinitely.
“It’s high time the industry starts appreciating and rewarding the extremely talented women and men who fix and maintain our bikes, enabling us to be the best riders we can be,” said Chris Feucht, Enduro Brand manager. “Our industry is quick to reward the great athletes, but without their mechanics’ support, their success is much less probable. Through our new Mechanics Ambassador Program, we’re acknowledging and rewarding key existing mechanics and programs that teach future wrenches.”
The first seven mechanics are:
- Danielle Castelli Strader, owner/mechanic, Torrenti Cycles, PBMA Board Member
- Katie Colesberry, QC manager/mechanic, Giant-Liv USA
- Drew Esherick, manager/mechanic, Maxxis Factory Racing
- Ana Garushyants, owner/mechanic, Circle Cycle Bike Shop, PBMA Board Member
- Jenny Kallista, owner/mechanic Appalachian Bicycle Institute, PBMA President
- Dan Large, Volvo NRS pro race mechanic and owner, XL Velo
- Tim Nicholls, owner/mechanic, Cycle Chvrch Cycles
The program will also support mechanic training programs, including the Appalachian Bicycle Institute (ABI).
The Appalachian Bicycle Institute, a fully accredited program recognized by brands and retailers across the country, teaches and certifies new and current mechanics. Owner and instructor Jenny Kallista, also president of the Professional Bike Mechanics Association, noted her enthusiasm for the program, “Thanks to our partnership with Enduro Bearings, our curriculum includes a deep dive into bicycle bearing engineering and manufacturing,” said Kallista.”
