With a weight of just 2.5 pounds (women’s model weighs 2.2 pounds) and a cuff rotation of 70 degrees, this boot guarantees fast, efficient climbing. And instead of a traditional tongue construction, the Blacklight Boot features an innovative Tech Gaiter that protects from cold and wind on high-alpine tours. The light, soft material with stretch and abrasion-resistant zones ensures a perfectly paired boot and gaiter.
For a precision fit in width at the cuff, the boot offers the Ultra Lock strap. Across the instep, it offers additional width adjustment with an additional buckle. In addition, the tension fork has a pin underneath that pushes firmly packed snow or small ice clumps from the binding. That guarantees that nothing gets in the way upon entry, and the binding closes securely. An extended excenter inspired by the skimo race series ensures ergonomically ideal opening and closing of the toe piece – whether by hand or a pole.
The use of ultralight high-performance carbon core and aluminum also promises an outstanding combination of lightness and stability. Especially noteworthy is the carbon technology at the heel unit: Its precision arrangement of fibers enables an unparalleled and extraordinary balance of compactness, rigidity, and durability.
In addition, the modular brake (included in the Blacklight Pro+ version) is locked and released using an easily understood mechanism. For climbs, an easily accessible lever is flipped to secure the brakes upon first stepping into the binding. Once at the summit, the mechanism can be released with a pole, making the brake ready for the descent.
