Blacklight is not only a product name. It is a promise! Black, elegant and technically perfect, the new Blacklight touring ski is impressive and is now the lightest model in its class. The Speed Ski with its minimal weight of less than a kilogram, plus its unidirectional carbon fiber and premium Paulownia wood, was developed so athletes in demanding alpine terrain can bring their best performance. The focus of the high-end ski is on the most energy-saving, fastest ascent possible. To that end, the ski boasts outstanding grip and traction even in icy conditions and promises maneuverability and agility on challenging terrain. At the same time, the Speed Ski scores on the descent with its stability and reliability, as well as easy edging even on hardpack. The Blacklight Ski Series hits retail for the 2020-21 winter season with four models in various widths. The design is reserved and straightforward, underscoring the series’ emphasis on “just the essentials:” Speed!
With the Blacklight 74 and the Blacklight 80, Dynafit is addressing minimalist, fast climbers who prefer if possible to have a narrow, performance-oriented ski on their feet. The Blacklight 88 with a waist of 88 mm is oriented on the other hand toward weight-conscious speed touring enthusiasts who seek a wider model – one that offers easier float on the descent and thus offers a lot in soft, fresh powder. All Blacklight skis feature a wood core of premium Paulownia that is not only very light but also ensures stability and flexibility. With the use of unidirectional carbon fiber, the weight of the skis has been further reduced while the rigidity has been increased again. The rocker construction at the tip and tail lends simpler turn initiation. The intelligent sidewall construction promises safety and stability not only on the ascent but also on the descent.
The Blacklight Pro was developed especially for professional ski mountaineers. With a waist of 80 mm and a minimalist 900 grams, it is the best companion for everybody who aims high. The Blacklight Pro consists of Paulownia Race Core optimized for weight with an ultralight carbon construction. One highlight of the ski is the attachment for skins. With the new PIN-SKIN System, the skin is no longer attached to the tail or stretched. Rather, it is anchored with a small pin and a corresponding insert directly in the ski. That not only saves time when transitioning, it also ensures a perfect interplay of ski and skin. At the same time, it also saves unneeded weight, which is truly essential on demanding terrain. With the PIN SKIN, the skin is a Race Pro 2.0 skin from POMOCA. The normal Dynafit Speed Skin can also however be used with the Blacklight Pro in its entire length.
“The brand values of DYNAFIT are speed, lightness, endurance and technology. With our new Blacklight Ski Series, these values are in perfect harmony. Even on the highest mountains in the world, you can rely 100% on the performance of the ski so you can be both fast and safe. On my last expedition to Dhaulagiri VII in Nepal, I was already using the new Blacklight Pro, and I am totally convinced.” – Benedikt Böhm, speed mountaineer and International managing director of DYNAFIT.
