No frame – no problem! With the invention of the pin binding 40 years ago, Fritz Barthel revolutionized the ski touring market. Based on laziness, as he himself admits, Barthel from Tyrol invented the first frameless ski touring binding. True to his philosophy of omission, he named it “Low Tech.” In a close partnership with Barthel, Dynafit was the first brand to produce the system and since then to innovate ongoing development. As the international market leader and driver of innovation of the frameless pin system, the snow leopard brand never stops: In winter 2024-25, DYNAFIT is launching three innovative binding models that will again set new standards. As with all Dynafit bindings, the Ridge, Seven Summits and Youngstar models will be produced in Europe and feature a lifetime product guarantee.

Ridge – Best Handling, Strong Performance
With its ease of handling and strong downhill performance, the revolutionary Ridge binding is the ideal partner for ambitious skimo athletes who recognize only one thing on both climbs and descents: #Speedup. Built on experience from 40 years of pin binding, the Ridge solves every problem confronted by ski touring enthusiasts on the mountain: With the aid of the patent-ed Easy-Turn-Tech heel unit, the Ridge is the only touring binding on the market that allows a totally effortless transition from the climbing to downhill position. Entry could not be easier and, thanks to an intelligent construction method, that works without even a downward glance. With the extra wide plate and Step-In Side Towers, athletes can step into the binding precisely. The front titanal toe stopper stops the boot at the height of the pins and thus puts it in an ideal position for fastening the binding. The time-tested Ice Breaker Pins keep snow and ice out of the inserts. In addition, the toe piece is constructed to loosen any built-up ice and snow and push it out when stepping in.

On the descent, this light premium binding wins points with strong performance and excellent power transfer to the ski. Safety and reliability always are top priority: Lateral and vertical release values can be adjusted from DIN 4 to 12. A forward pressure of 7 mm ensures that the release value remains constant and precise even when skis experience deflection. When it comes to ease of use, the Ridge is in a league of its own, demonstrated by numerous extra details and features: The patented ski brake is constructed to eliminate any possible functional errors. Brakes are retracted into the binding in climbing mode upon your first step and are activated automatically in downhill mode. The excenter on the toe piece and both riser heights are designed to be operated easily with a ski pole. The second riser level automatically moves into position as soon as the first is folded down, making it even more comfortable to operate. For hardpack and icy conditions, the Ridge binding can be used with ski crampons. Here, too, developers worked to add more comfort. The new ski crampons with the so-called “Quick-in Achse” can be mounted effortlessly both from the side as well as directly from the top. Especially on challenging terrain, mounting them from the top works both more quickly and more easily.

Seven Summit – This is Low Tech Today
Pared back to the essentials: The minimalist Seven Summits binding is an impressively light and reliable companion for classic ski tours. Whether for a fast after-work outing on your local mountain, an extended summit tour, or your first attempt on touring skis, the Seven Summits proves one thing spectacularly: Less is more.

The binding brings the true spirit of Low Tech back to the summit. It is versa-tile and, despite total minimalism, it boasts all the essential features needed for a successful tour – smart construction and premium materials is what makes it all possible. On the descent, the Seven Summits wins points for top power transfer and absolute reliability. Its lateral release values can be fully adjusted from DIN 4 to 10. When it comes to handling and comfort, this lightweight binding knows how to impress. The extra wide plate together with Step-In Side Towers makes entry very easy. In order to ensure the boot is really firmly anchored in the binding, the Seven Summits features special Ice Breaker Pins that displace ice and snow from ski touring boot inserts. In addition, the toe piece is constructed to loosen any built-up ice and snow and push it out when stepping in. The Seven Summits binding is also available with optional brakes (Seven Summits+). Brakes are retracted into the binding in climbing mode upon your first step and are activated automatically in downhill mode.

For comfortable climbing on steep terrain, the Seven Summits binding boasts a new, functionally integrated speed riser that has a total of three walk modes available. They can be operated either with a ski pole or as usual by hand. The excenter on the toe piece is also designed to be secured with the grip of the ski pole and be released with the pole tip. And there’s another intelligent extra: Thanks to the re-designed ski crampon leash, the Seven Summits is compatible with the new Dynafit ski crampon with so-called “Quick-in Achse.” That allows mounting both from the side as well as directly from the top. In particular on challenging terrain, mounting ski crampons from the top is easier and they are more quickly attached.

Youngstar – The First Authentic Pin Binding for Kids
Safe, light and made 100 percent for a child’s needs: The Youngstar binding was developed especially for the skimo athletes of tomorrow. Lightweight and child-optimized ergonomic features make this binding the perfect touring companion for all conditions. Making ski touring an experience for the entire family!

In order to precisely adapt the binding to the needs of youngsters, Dynafit engineers found some energetic assistance, working with ski touring-passionate kids in development. Safety and comfort were in the process the first priority. All details are constructed with the addition of self-explanatory icons, so kids, despite less strength, can operate the bindings themselves and not have to turn to adults for help. With its patented toe piece, the Youngstar binding offers the safest release values of 2-5 on the market. With a generous adjustment range at the heel unit of 50 mm, the Youngstar will grow along with its owners for many years. It is approved for a maximum weight of 57 kg and is thus also a comfortable and safe choice for smaller, lighter adults.

Stepping into the binding is child’s play thanks to its intuitive construction. An extra long excenter enables effortless securing and releasing of the toe piece – by hand or with a ski pole. The binding features two riser heights that can be adjusted up or down from a standing position with a ski pole. That ensures you can easily and flexibly change heights ideally on variable terrain. On the descent, the patented toe piece, called the “Flow Toe,” ensures the binding releases totally reliably. For extra safety in case of a fall, there is an integrated brake. In this case, too, developers looked to find a child-friendly solution: In walk mode, the brake automatically locks up into the binding with your first step; in ski mode it activates as needed. For use in icy or crusty conditions, the Youngstar binding is compatible with Ddynafit’s ski crampons. With the new ski crampon leash with “Quick-in Achse,” crampons don’t just mount from the side anymore, but can now also be attached from the top. This is significantly easier for kids than pushing them on from the side.
