Bollé’s design and technology lab, EPIC, based in Lyon, France has developed a lens technology using Artificial Intelligence to create the Volt +, a high-contrast lens that enhances color to improve depth perception without compromising white balance.
In developing Volt +, the team used AI to find out which wavelengths to enhance or dampen to create the chemical compound (pigments) that would absorb the right wavelengths for the transition curve. Twenty million different lens formula combinations were tried before settling on the Volt + lens.

The technology will be included in Bolle’s line of sport-specific sunglasses for Spring 2021.
