Big Agnes, the multi award-winning outdoor equipment brand, has collaborated with Hyosung, a global sustainable textile solution provider, in the development of its new Sweetwater UL (Ultralight) pack program introduced this month.
After three years in development, Big Agnes believes it has hit the sweet spot with its Sweetwater UL program – filling the whitespace in the ultralight pack market by blending Big Agnes comfort technologies with ultralight running innovations.
Designed with sustainability in mind, Sweetwater UL packs, offered in 28L, 43L and 60L, are made with Hyosung’s high-tenacity regen Ocean Robic Nylon – a GRS certified, 100 percent recycled nylon derived from discarded fishing nets. While offering the same strength and durability as conventional nylon, regen Ocean Robic Nylon has a 56 percent lower carbon footprint than virgin nylon. This collaboration highlights Hyosung’s commitment to delivering sustainable textile solutions and underscores its dedication to minimizing environmental impact.
“We were fortunate to partner with Big Agnes in the launch of its first-ever pack category in 2021 when the brand celebrated its 20th anniversary,” said Laura Nilo, Hyosung US Marketing Manager – West Coast Lead. We are grateful to collaborate once again with this iconic core mountain brand, and its exceptionally talented team, to bring their long-awaited Sweetwater UL packs to market.”
“Partnering with Hyosung to incorporate their regen Ocean Robic Nylon into our new Sweetwater UL packs has been an exciting journey. This collaboration allowed us to create an exceptional product that doesn’t compromise on performance while significantly reducing environmental impact. We’re thrilled to offer products that perform at the highest level while helping to protect the places we all love to explore,” said Michael Thompson, director of development and design at Big Agnes.
