Polymer Corporation, a leading plastics manufacturing company and supplier to the marine, firearms and outdoors sports industries, opened its new facility in Palmer, Mass.

Polymer specializes in liquid resin cast parts and highly engineered injection-molded and machined parts and assemblies in low-to-medium volumes for a national base of blue-chip customers. The new 92,000-square-foot facility becomes Polymers primary base for its injection molding and decorating services business.

Polymer is rapidly growing and committed to manufacturing in the United States, said Jim Ryan, the companys Chief Operating Officer. Our new Palmer plant provides needed additional capacity, supports our commitment to innovation through the use of state-of-the-art technology, and allows us to run highly efficient operations. Further, Palmer is convenient to our customers and our workforce.

Since its inception in 1979, Polymer has developed significant production expertise in a variety of niche markets, including medical, defense, marine, and outdoor sports. Its Gun Valley Molders division is a leading producer of synthetic gun parts and accessories. Polymer Marine produces parts used in many offshore, oceanographic, and defense applications.

To support the injection molding needs of its diverse customer base, Polymer invested heavily in new equipment, including five large-capacity 500-to-800-ton injection molding machines. Well continue to invest in new equipment to support anticipated growth, said Mr. Ryan.

In addition to significant capacity-the plant houses 26 plastic injection molding machines ranging in size from 38 tons to 800 tons-and capabilities like overmolding and insert molding, Polymer now offers a full range of value-added finishing services, including in-house camo dipping, painting, EMI/RFI shielding, hot stamping, pad printing, and sonic welding. The facilitys other new features include a high-tech security system and a separate clean room.

Polymers investment in its facilities, equipment, and employees has been recognized by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts; the Massachusetts Alliance for Economic Development (MassEcon) recently awarded Polymer a 2012 Economic Impact Award for its contribution to the state and local economy.
