Pocket Outdoor Media has added six industry veterans to its sales staff for VeloNews, Bicycle Retailer & Industry News, Triathlete, PodiumRunner and Women’s Running.
Nick Ramey has joined Pocket Outdoor Media as national sales director for Pocket’s running and triathlon brands: Triathlete magazine, PodiumRunner, and Women’s Running. This extends Ramey’s current position as head of sales for Roll Massif, the new Colorado-based cycling event series, where he will continue to offer cross-platform sponsorships for both media and events. Ramey was formerly Group Ad Director for VeloNews and Inside Triathlon and then national sales manager for Yeti Cycles and La Sportiva.
“Nick knows media, events, and the supplier side of this business,” said Andrew Pemberton, CEO of Pocket Outdoor Media. “Very few people in our industry have that experience, which makes Nick an ideal resource to help brands reach consumers everywhere they are. I’m excited to bring Nick onto our team.”
Bicycle Retailer & Industry News (BRAIN) has also seen an expansion of its sales force. Under the direction of Mark Gouge, who is national sales director for VeloNews and BRAIN, the existing independent sales reps selling BRAIN will also begin selling advertising for VeloNews. Gary Newkirk, a former sales representative for BRAIN, will also rejoin the brand to sell for the brands in the West Coast territory. BRAIN’s independent sales reps Ellen Butler (Mountain West), Barry Kingwill and Jim Kingwill (Midwest), and Karl Wiedemann (East), have begun selling VeloNews.
“The Bicycle Retailer team is on fire,” said Pemberton. “We saw record ad sales in Bicycle Retailer’s Sea Otter Guide because of our expanded distribution in print and online through VeloNews. This partnership works. We’re helping brands reach the retail point of sale through Bicycle Retailer and also the most active consumers in cycling through VeloNews. Opening up both titles to our partner brands is a real win for the industry.”
