Winmark Corp., the parent of Play It Again Sports, reported earnings rose to $5.6 million, or $1.09 a share, in its third quarter ended Sept. 27, up from $5.25 million, or $1.00, a year ago. Revenues, primarily royalties and leasing income, reached $16.4 million from $14.8 million.

At Sept. 27, 2014, there were 1,070 franchises in operation under the brands Plato’s Closet®, Once Upon A Child®, Play It Again Sports®, Music Go Round® and Style Encore®. An additional 104 retail franchises have been awarded but are not open. In addition, at September 27, 2014, the company had a lease portfolio of $43.2 million.
